윤석열 대통령이 18일 일본 경제인 대표단을 접견하고 "양국 기업들이 때론 서로 경쟁도 하겠으나 앞으론 한·일 기업 간 협력을 더욱 확대·심화함으로써 제3국 공동진출같은 성공 사례가 많이 나오길 기대한다"고 밝혔다.
윤 대통령은 이날 용산 대통령실에서 '제31회 한·일 재계회의' 참석차 방한한 도쿠라 마사카즈 일본 경제단체연합회 회장 등 대표단을 접견하고 "앞으로도 일본 경제계의 지속적 투자·교류 확대를 당부한다"며 이같이 말했다고 대통령실이 전했다. 이 자리엔 류진 한국경제인협회 회장 등 한국 기업인들도 참석했다.
윤 대통령은 "취임 이후 미래지향적 한·일 관계를 만들기 위해 노력해 왔고 특히 경제계는 양국 관계가 어려운 시기에도 교류를 멈추지 않고 든든한 버팀목 역할을 하며 양국 관계 회복에 가장 큰 역할을 했다"고 평했다.

또 "내년은 한·일 국교 정상화 60주년이 되는 의미있는 해로 한·일 관계를 한 단계 도약시키는 좋은 계기가 될 것"이라며 "양국 간 미래지향적 협력 확대를 위해 한·일 재계회의를 비롯 양국 경제계가 더욱 노력해 달라"고 당부했다.
도쿠라 회장은 "한·일 관계 정상화에 대한 양국 정부 노력에 일본 경제계를 대표해 깊이 감사한다"며 "한·일 경제계가 손 맞잡고 더 큰 성과를 창출해 나가겠다"고 화답했다.
