【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=경주시는 31일 월성원전 및 황성공원에서 ‘2024년도 월성 방사능방재 합동훈련’을 31일 실시했다.

방사능 누출 사고에 신속하고 효과적으로 대응하기 위한 이번 훈련은 원자력안전위원회(월성원전지역사무소), 경상북도, 울산시, 포항시, 월성원자력본부 등이 함께 참여하는 법정 훈련이다.
훈련에서는 원전 비상발령 단계(백색, 청색, 적색)에 따른 기관별 대응 조치와 상황 훈련과 원전 비상 경보 방송 훈련이 진행됐다.
이어 월성원전 사고로 인한 방사능 누출 영향을 확인하기 위한 육상 환경방사선 탐지 훈련도 실시됐다.
특히 원전 반경 30km 내 주민과 학생 370여 명이 황성공원 실내체육관 주차장에 마련된 이재민 구호소에서 비상 훈련에 참여했다.
이 밖에도 방사선 비상 계획 구역 내 9개 읍·면·동(감포, 문무대왕, 양남, 외동, 내남, 천북, 월성, 불국, 보덕) 일원에서 방사능 피폭 최소화를 위한 갑상샘 방호 약품 배부 훈련이 진행됐다.
또한 시민을 대상으로 재난 시 행동 요령, 가방 싸기, 구호 급식 체험 등의 실질적 훈련도 함께 실시해 주민 생명과 안전 확보를 위한 대비태세를 강화했다.
경주시는 이번 훈련을 통해 공무원의 현장 대응 능력 향상은 물론, 시민들이 방사능 누출 시 주민 행동 요령을 이해하는 데 도움이 되었을 것으로 평가하고 있다.
주낙영 경주시장은 “이번 훈련을 통해 방사능 방재 체계를 점검하고, 실효성 있는 주민 보호 대책을 지속적으로 보완해 원전 사고로 인한 시민 불안을 해소하고 생명과 재산을 보호하는 데 최선을 다하겠다”고 강조했다.
한편 경주시는 방사능 사고 대응 역량을 강화하고 시민들에게 보다 안전한 환경을 제공하기 위해 지속적으로 노력할 계획이다.
