동국대학교 건학위원회 지역미래불자육성장학 장학증서 수여식 개최

【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=동국대학교 건학위원회 ‘지역미래불자육성장학’ 장학증서 수여식이 지난 29일 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 백주년기념관 D501호에서 개최됐다.

이날 행사에서 대한불교조계종 미륵암(주지 일공)이 불교문화대학 불교동아리 ‘부루나’, 스마트시티융합대학 불교동아리 ‘바라너지’, 글로벌사회경영대학 불교동아리 ‘다르마’ 장학생 30명에게 장학금 100만원씩을 수여하고, 대한불교서명종 원법사(주지 해운)가 간호대학 불교동아리 ‘메타’ 장학생 10명에게 장학금 100만원씩을 수여했다.

수여식에는 미륵암 주지 일공스님, 원법사 주지 해운스님, 동국대학교 건학위원장 돈관 스님, 박기련 동국대학교 건학위원회 사무총장, 지정학 학교법인 동국대학교 사무처장, 류완하 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 총장, 정각원장 철우스님 등이 참석했다.

미륵암 주지 일공 스님은 “동국대학교 WISE캠퍼스의 훌륭한 인재불사에 동참할 수 있게 되어 기쁘고 오늘 장학금을 받는 학생들이 별처럼 보인다며 “매순간마다 열심히 생활하여 훌륭한 동국인으로 성장해 가기를 기원한다”고 기부 소감을 밝혔다.

원법사 주지 해운 스님은 “동문 선배로서 후배들에게 장학금을 줄 수 있는 기회를 주셔서 감사드리고 서울캠퍼스에 이어 WISE캠퍼스에도 원법사가 지역미래불자육성장학생과 인연을 맺게 되어 소중하게 생각하며, 불교인재로서 인술을 펼치시기를 부처님전에 늘 기도하겠다”고 소감을 전했다.

동국대학교 건학위원장 돈관 스님은 “오늘 장학증서를 받는 학생 여러분들은 미륵암과 원법사와 큰 인연을 맺게 되었으므로, 어려운 일이 있을 때도 함께 할 수 있기를 바란다” 며 “동국인으로서 한국의 미래불자로서 불교 중흥에 큰 역할을 해주기 바란다”고 당부했다.

류완하 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 총장은 “미륵암 주지 일공스님과 원법사 주지 해운스님께서 미래불자 육성을 위해서 내어주신 소중한 정재에 감사드린다”며 “동국대 WISE캠퍼스는 건학이념의 구현과 지역의 미래 발전을 위해 최선의 노력을 다할 것”이라고 밝혔다.

한편 건학위원회가 추진하는'지역 미래불자 육성장학'은 지역사찰과 동국대에 재학 중인 해당지역 학생들을 연결해 장학금을 수여하는 건학위원회 사업의 일환으로 지역사회 공헌과 미래불자 육성 등 인재불사를 목표로 하고 있다. 사찰은 학생에게 장학금을 수여하고, 장학생은 ▲템플스테이 ▲각종 법회 참석 ▲재능기부 등 해당 사찰과 다양한 스킨십을 통해 해당사찰의 지역불교인재로 자연스럽게 성장하게 된다.

Dongguk University Foundation Committee Regional Future Buddhist Scholarship Award Ceremony Held

The Dongguk University Foundation Committee ‘Regional Future Buddhist Scholarship’ Scholarship Award Ceremony was held on the 29th in Room D501 of the Dongguk University WISE Campus Centennial Memorial Hall.

At the event, the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism Mireukam (chief Ilgong) awarded 1 million won each to 30 students from the Buddhist Culture College Buddhist Club ‘Buruna’, the Smart City Convergence College Buddhist Club ‘Baranerji’, and the Global Social Management College Buddhist Club ‘Dharma’, while the Seomyeong Order of Korean Buddhism Wonbeopsa (chief Haeun) awarded 1 million won each to 10 students from the Nursing College Buddhist Club ‘Meta’.

The award ceremony was attended by Ilgong, the chief priest of Mireukam Temple, Haewoon, the chief priest of Wonbeop Temple, Dongguk University Foundation Committee Chairman Donkwan, Park Ki-ryeon, Secretary General of Dongguk University Foundation Committee, Jijeonghak, the Office Manager of Dongguk University, Ryu Wan-ha, President of Dongguk University WISE Campus, and Cheol-woo, the head of Jeonggakwon. Ilgong, the chief priest of Mireukam Temple, said, “I am happy to be able to participate in the excellent talent donation of Dongguk University WISE Campus. The students receiving the scholarship today look like stars to me. I hope that they will live diligently every moment and grow into excellent Dongguk people.”

Haewoon, the chief priest of Wonbeop Temple, said, “As an alumnus, I am grateful for the opportunity to give scholarships to my juniors. I cherish the fact that Wonbeop Temple has formed a relationship with the local future Buddhist scholarship students at WISE Campus following Seoul Campus. I will always pray in front of Buddha that they will display their Buddhist talents.”

Dongguk University Foundation Committee Chairman Don Gwan said, “The students receiving scholarships today have a great connection with Mireukam and Wonbeopsa, so I hope that they can be together even when times are tough,” and added, “As Donggukians, I hope that you will play a big role in the revival of Buddhism as future Buddhists in Korea.”

Dongguk University WISE Campus President Ryu Wan-ha said, “I would like to express my gratitude to the precious donations made by Mireukam’s chief priest Ilgong and Wonbeopsa’s chief priest Haeun for fostering future Buddhists,” and added, “Dongguk University WISE Campus will do its best to realize the founding philosophy and develop the future of the region.”

Meanwhile, the “Regional Future Buddhist Fostering Scholarship” promoted by the Foundation Committee is part of the Foundation Committee’s project to connect local temples and students in the region currently enrolled at Dongguk University with scholarships, and aims to foster talented individuals by contributing to the local community and fostering future Buddhists. The temple awards scholarships to students, and the scholarship recipients naturally grow into local Buddhist talents of the temple through various interactions with the temple, such as ▲temple stays ▲attending various Buddhist services ▲donating talents, etc.
