대통령실이 8일 도널드 트럼프 전 미국 대통령의 미 대선 당선 관련 향후 정부 대응에 대해 "새로운 미 행정부·의회서도 계속 경제 협력을 강화해 나갈 수 있도록 하겠다"고 밝혔다.
성태윤 대통령실 정책실장은 이날 모 방송에 출연해 "우리 기업의 활발한 대미 투자·미국과의 거래 관계 등이 미 제조 붐과 함께 우리나라에도 긍정적 영향을 미칠 수 있다는 부분에 어느 정도 공감대가 있다 본다"며 이같이 밝혔다.
그러면서 "범부처 차원에서 트럼프 당선인 대선 공약 등이 우리에 미칠 영향을 이미 분석해놓은 상태"라며 "누가 미 대통령이 되든 우리 입장에선 굳건한 한·미동맹 틀을 갖고 있고 상호 호혜적 방향으로 협의해 나간다 보면 된다"고 했다.
또 "미 대통령 당선인이 확정된 이후 매우 빠른 속도로 윤석열 대통령과의 통화가 이뤄졌고, 다른 국가 비해서도 상당히 긴 시간 통화했다"며 "조선업 분야에서 한국의 도움·협력이 필요하다는 매우 구체적 언급까지 나왔다"고 강조했다
이어 최근 일각서 제기된 삼성전자 위기론 및 반도체 포함 미래 먹거리 부진 우려엔 "반도체 포함 국가 전략산업 경쟁력 확충을 위한 지원을 최대한 강화시켜 나갈 것"이라며 26조 규모 반도체 생태계 종합 지원 프로그램·인프라 확충·노동 조건 개선 등에 대한 정부 지원을 약속했다.
더불어 "삼성전자 경우 일부 그런 (위기론) 얘기가 나오나 반도체 산업 전체론 올해 사상 최대치인 수출 1천350억불 목표를 향해 순항 중"이라고 덧붙였다.
성 실장은 윤석열 대통령 임기 반환점(10일)에 앞선 전반기 정책 성과 관련해선 "가장 중요한 부분은 저출생 반전이라 볼 수 있다"며 "정부서 강력한 의지·속도감 있는 정책으로 이런 부분(저출산)에 대응하는 게 중요한 의미가 있었다"고 평했다.
올 8월 출생아는 2만 98명으로 8월 기준 14년 만에 최고치를 기록한 가운데 출산율 선행지표라 할 수 있는 혼인 건수도 올 4월부터 8월까지 5개월 연속 증가세를 보이고 있다.
그러면서 출산율 반등·4대 개혁(의료·연금·노동·교육) 착수·세계국채지수(WGBI) 편입 등을 전반기 주요 성과로 들었다.
