[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 진주익룡발자국전시관에서 특별기획전 ‘A piece of story:진주에 운석이 떨어졌다’의 개막식을 개최했다고 13일 밝혔다.
이번 기획전은 2014년 진주에 떨어진 진주운석의 역사적 가치와 학문적 의미를 재조명하며, 진주로 온 특별한 운석 이야기를 관람객에게 소개하기 위해 기획됐다.
전시는 12일부터 오는 2025년 3월 2일까지 약 4개월간 이어지며, 개막식에서는 진주운석 기증식도 함께 진행됐다.
진주운석은 약 6억2800만km를 여행해 진주에 도달했으며, 이는 현재 지구에서 발견할 수 있는 가장 오래된 암석보다 더 오래된 약 46억년의 나이를 가지고 있다.
