충남 당진시가 지역사회 여성과 사회적 약자들의 안전을 위해 ‘여성안심귀갓길’ 시설물 20개소를 새롭게 조성했다고 20일 밝혔다.
여성안심귀갓길 사업은 민선 8기 공약사업으로, 여성과 사회적 약자들이 안전하게 귀가할 수 있도록 지원하고 범죄예방환경설계 기법을 반영한 안심 환경 조성을 목표로 하고 있다.
이번에 신규로 설치된 시설물은 로고젝터 11대와 비상벨 9대이며, 이 중 비상벨 2대는 현대제철(주)의 후원으로 설치되었다.
설치된 20곳은 당진경찰서와 당진시 안전 관련 부서와의 협의를 통해 시민의 통행률, 조도, 범죄 발생률 등을 종합적으로 고려하여 선정되었다.
당진시는 설치 후에도 관계기관과 지속적으로 모니터링하여 안전한 귀가 환경을 조성할 계획이다. 또한, 당진경찰서와 협력하여 상시 순찰을 강화해 안전성을 더욱 높일 예정이다.
오성환 당진시장은 “여성안심귀갓길 조성은 여성뿐만 아니라 사회적 약자들이 안심하고 생활할 수 있는 환경을 조성하는 데 중점을 두고 있다”며, “관련 기관과의 협력을 통해 누구나 안전한 도시환경을 조성하도록 노력하겠다”고 전했다.
