윤석열 대통령 측 석동현 변호사가 19일 "(윤 대통령이) 비상계엄이란 비상 상황을 선포할 정도로 망국적 상황이었다 봤다"며 "기본 상식적 사고·국민 눈높이에서 '내란'은 당치 않다는 생각을 하고 있다"고 밝혔다.
석 변호사는 이날 오후 서울 서초구 서울고검앞에서 가진 문답 형식 간이 회견에서 "(윤 대통령은) 계엄 당일 출동한 군·경찰에 시민과 충돌해선 안된다고 말했다"고 밝혔다.
그러면서 "윤 대통령은 '체포'의 '체' 자도 꺼낸 적 없다고 직접 들었다"며 "대통령은 법률가로 '체포해라' '끌어내라' 그런 용어를 쓴 적 없다고 들었다"고 밝혔다.
또 "윤 대통령은 앞선 담화에서 밝혔듯 당당한 입장"이라며 "국민 여러분을 놀라게 하고 충격 느끼게 한 데 대해선 송구한 마음 있으나 앞으로 쟁점 현안에 대해선 시비를 가려야 한다는 입장을 갖고 있다"고 전했다.
이어 "변호인단을 아직 구성 중에 있다"며 "최적 팀을 꾸리기 위해 숙고 중"이라고 밝혔다.
더불어 "대통령 탄핵소추가 졸속으로 이뤄진 측면이 있고 시간 끌기는 야당에서 주로 해 왔다"며 "절차를 부정할 수도 없고 대응하는 입장에선 여러 준비가 필요하지 않겠나, 시간 끌기라 하는 건 성급한 평가라 생각한다"고 했다.
