최상목 대통령 권한대행 경제부총리 겸 기획재정부 장관이 14일 "정부는 민생경제 반전 모멘텀 확보를 위해 민간과 힘합쳐 좋은 일자리를 하나라도 더 만드는 데 총력을 다하겠다"고 밝혔다.
최 권한대행은 이날 오전 서울 마포구 한국경영자총협회 회관에서 열린 '민생경제점검회의'에서 양질의 일자리 창출을 위한 정부·경제6단체 간 협약을 체결하고 일자리 상황을 점검하며 "일자리는 가계소득 원천이자 기업 성장 동력"이라며 이같이 말했다.
그러면서 "오늘 발표된 1월 고용동향에 따르면 취업자수는 13만5000명 증가하면서 증가세로 전환했다"며 "그러나 건설·제조 등 주요 업종 고용감소세가 지속되고 있고 청년 등 고용 취약계층 어려움도 가중되고 있다"고 진단했다.
또 "생산연령인구 감소가 취업자수 증가를 제약하는 등 향후 고용여건도 녹록지 않은 상황"이라고 우려했다.
정부는 건설·제조업 등 일부 산업군과 청년층에서 장기화되고 있는 고용 부진 해결을 위해 경제 6단체와 손잡은 가운데 경제계는 올해 신규 채용규모를 확대하고 정부도 직접일자리사업 등을 통해 1분기까지 120만개 일자리를 창출 계획이다.
