National Security Office: "First Vice Minister Kim Tae-hyo did not contact Kim Yong-hyun even once before or after martial law"
"Boo Seung-chan's remarks are a fabrication of the statement made by Deputy Director Kim at the 3rd National Assembly Special Investigation Committee hearing held on February 6, in which he asked former Presidential Security Service Chief Park Jong-joon, "Is something going on?" just before martial law."

The National Security Office announced on the 20th that "Secretary General Kim Tae-hyo has never had any contact with former Minister of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun before or after martial law." The National Security Office reported this in a press release that afternoon.
In response, they refuted, saying, "It seems that Deputy General Kim embellished his statement at the 3rd National Intelligence Service hearing held on February 6th, where he asked former Presidential Security Service Chief Park Jong-joon, "Is something going on?" right before martial law."
They also added, "The National Security Office has been doing its best to ensure the security of the Republic of Korea and the safety of its citizens even in the absence of the President since martial law," and "We urge you to immediately stop shaking the National Security Office with false information."
Earlier, on the 19th, Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Boo Seung-chan appeared on JTBC's special Ssulzun and claimed, "I find it hard to believe, but Vice Minister Kim claims that he found out about martial law late." He went on to say, "After the martial law announcement, Vice Minister Kim hurried to the Blue House and met former Minister of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun and asked, 'What on earth is this?' To which the former Minister Kim snickered and replied, 'Perfect. '"
