충남 당진시가 20일 충남도청 상황실에서 충청남도 및 민간기업체와 함께 ‘석문지구 양곡터미널 개발을 위한 업무협약’을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
이번 협약식에는 오성환 당진시장, 김태흠 충남도지사, ㈜선광 이도희 대표를 비롯한 관계자들이 참석하여 당진항 석문지구가 중부권 최대 곡물 물류 거점으로 도약하기 위한 중요한 첫걸음을 내딛었다.
당진시에 따르면, 당진항 양곡터미널 조성사업은 총사업비 3,100억 원 규모로, 선박 대형화 추세에 선제적으로 대응하기 위해 국내 최대 양곡부두 접안시설인 8만 DWT급(캄사르급) 부두와 사일로(SILO) 저장시설, 친환경 하역·저장 설비 등을 조성하는 사업이다.
이를 통해 연간 100만 톤 이상의 물동량 처리가 가능할 것으로 예상되며, 수도권 연관업체의 대규모 이전과 충청 내륙기업의 산업 경쟁력 강화에도 기여할 것으로 보인다.
또한, 공사 기간 및 운영 단계에서 고용 창출과 세수 확보 등 경제 유발 효과가 예상되는 만큼, 지역 경제 활성화에도 크게 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
