[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 26일 한국산업기술시험원(KTL) 우주부품시험센터에서 ‘JINJUSat-1B(진주샛 원 비)’ 개발사업 관계자들과 함께 2월 시민과의 데이트 시간을 가졌다고 밝혔다.
이날 회의에는 진주시 초소형위성 개발에 참여한 KTL 관계자들이 참석, 위성 개발과 시험 과정의 진행 상황을 공유하고 향후 계획에 대해 논의했다.
이번 시민과의 데이트는 내달 4일 발사될 ‘JINJUSat-1B’의 성공적인 안착을 기원하는 자리로, 시와 KTL가 우주산업의 발전을 위한 구체적인 협력 방안을 모색하기 위해 마련됐다.
KTL 우주부품시험센터 연구원들은 ‘JINJUSat-1B’ 개발 과정에서 겪은 기술적 도전과 성과를 설명하며, 프로젝트의 안정적인 진행을 위한 진주시의 적극적인 지원을 요청했다.
진주시는 지난 2019년부터 국내 기초지방자치단체 중 최초로 초소형위성 개발사업을 시작했으며, 이 사업은 KTL과 경상국립대학교가 참여하고 있다.
지난 2023년 발사된 ‘JINJUSat-1’은 최종적으로 궤도에 진입하지 못했으나, 이를 보완한 ‘JINJUSat-1B’를 통해 재도전에 나선다.
