당진시(시장 오성환)는 기지시줄다리기 보존회가 오는 3월 12일부터 13일까지 이틀간 큰 줄 제작에 본격적으로 나선다고 밝혔다.
이번에 제작되는 큰 줄은 4월 10일부터 13일까지 열리는 2025 기지시줄다리기 축제에 참여하는 관광객들이 당기게 될 줄이다.
보존회는 2월 24일부터 4월 6일까지 매일 20여 명의 인원이 참여하여 6천 단의 짚으로 줄을 제작해 왔으며. 이들은 12일부터 작은 줄로 제작한 재료를 3가닥의 중줄로 엮기 시작했다,
13일에는 수백 명의 마을 주민과 자원봉사자들이 함께 참여해 큰 줄 2개를 제작 완료할 예정이다.
제작이 완료된 큰 줄은 3월 14일부터 4월 6일까지 각각 100m 길이의 암숫줄에 머릿줄, 곁줄, 손잡이가 되는 젖줄을 만들어 기지시줄다리기를 위한 줄로 완성될 계획이다.
2025년 기지시줄다리기 축제는 당진시 송악읍 기지시줄다리기박물관 및 기지시 틀못광장에서 개최되며, 줄다리기 유네스코 등재 10주년을 기념하여 제례 행사, 등재 10주년 기념식, 주제공연 및 다양한 민속 줄다리기 시연 행사가 함께 열릴 예정이다.
