러시아-우크라이나 전쟁에서 나와 뜻이 같았던 사람들이 중동 문제에 있어서는 나와 완전히 뜻이 반대인 사람들을 참 많이 본다. 특히 이란에 대한 경계와 견제가 심한데 이란의 핵 개발에 대해서 우려와 경계, 견제의 모습을 보이고 있다. 이란은 20~21세기에 이웃을 침략한 적이 많지 않다. 찾아보면 거의 전무하다시피 한다. 팔레비 시절에는 미국과 친하게 지냈기 때문에 중동 지역에서 벌어졌던 각종 중동 전쟁 및 중동 분쟁을 피해갔고, 소련-아프가니스탄 전쟁 때도 직접적인 분쟁을 피했다. 그리고 이라크에게 침공을 당해 이란-이라크전쟁을 치르긴 했지만 어디까지나 침공을 당한 것이다.
이는 호메이니 혁명 이후의 신정 체제 때도 마찬가지다. 미국이 이란을 북한이나 시리아, 러시아와 동급인 불량국가로 만들면서 서구에서 바라보는 이란의 이미지는 전 근대적인 신정국가로 덧씌워졌다. 이런 이란이 핵무기에 집착하는 이유는 시리아의 패망, 북한의 고립, 러시아-우크라이나 전쟁에서 러시아에 대한 일방적인 경제 제재 등을 지켜보면서 안보상의 문제가 있을 수 있다 판단, 위기라 느꼈기 때문이다.
게다가 하마스-이스라엘 전쟁 및 시리아, 레바논 일대에서 헤즈볼라와의 전쟁, 그리고 예멘 후티에 대한 공격 등은 이란의 입장에서 볼 때 서방과 이스라엘의 공격 및 강력한 도전이 느껴졌을 것이다. 이럴 때 자구책으로 등장한 것이 핵 개발이다. 어차피 이란은 러시아와 다르게 미국이나 집단서방이 그 제재를 풀지 않을 것이고, 북한처럼 고립화시킬 것이다. 트럼프 또한 러시아에 관대할 수 있어도 이란한테는 단호하다.
한국인들이 착각하고 있는 것이 있다. 미국과 집단서방은 "지구의 경찰"이라 생각하고 있다는 것이다. 이들에게 대적하면 모두 "악의 축"이라 "악마의 상징"으로 여겨졌다. 그리고 학교에서, 언론에서 그렇게 교육시켜왔고, 선전선동을 해왔다. 미국과 집단서방은 무한히 정의로운 자들이기에 남을 침략하지 않고 남의 자유 민주주의를 보장하며 이를 위협하는 자들을 대신해 싸워준다고 믿고 있다. 천사 같은 미국과 집단서방의 행위를 집중 분석하고 이에 저항하는 자들은 악으로 규정하여 선의 대명사인 미국과 집단서방의 정의실현을 보고 배워야 한다고 생각한다.
그리고 악이라 규정하는 저들의 입장은 들어볼 필요가 없고 분석할 필요도 없다. 서방에 저항하는 그들은 "자유 민주주의의 적"이고, "자유를 위협하는 악귀" 같은 존재이기에 무조건 싸워 굴복시켜야 하며, 이를 지원하는 것이 국제 사회에 도움을 받았던 은혜를 되갚는 길이라 생각한다. 그러나 실상을 알고 보면 저들이 악으로 규정하는 자들보다 이들이 더 남의 나라를 침략하고 내정간섭을 일삼으며, 멋대로 악의 프레임을 가져다 붙이며 악마화 한다. 쓸데없는 분쟁을 조장하며 서로 죽고, 죽이게 만들고 평화를 가장해 전쟁에 개입해 미국과 집단서방 각국의 이득을 취해왔다. 그들은 "지구의 경찰"이 아니라 "지구의 지배자"가 되어온 것이 20~21세기 세계 현대사의 골자다.
이란은 터키에 이어 No.2로 막강한 군사력을 갖고 있다. 그런데 중동을 완전히 장악하여 "현대판 페르시아 제국"을 만들겠다고 주장한적도 없다. 시아파의 맹주로써 같은 시아파를 수호하고 시아파를 적대하고 위협하는 자들과 함께 싸운다. 특히 이스라엘은 이슬람과의 공존을 싫어한다. 중동에서 일어난 전쟁 및 분쟁의 80%는 이스라엘과 관련된 것은 명확한 사실이다. 이스라엘이 집단서방 및 미국과 손 잡고 이슬람과 아랍, 이란을 위협하고 있는 것이 이들의 현실이다. 이란이 핵 개발은 자국과 시아파 동맹국들을 지키기 위한 자구책이지 누군가를 공격하기 위함은 아니다. 이는 종교적 광신과는 아무 상관이 없다.

Iran has the second strongest military power after Turkey. However, it has never claimed that it will completely dominate the Middle East and create a "modern Persian Empire." As the leader of the Shiites, it protects the same Shiites and fights together with those who oppose and threaten the Shiites. In particular, Israel hates coexistence with Islam. It is a clear fact that 80% of the wars and conflicts that have occurred in the Middle East are related to Israel.
