브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= KT&G가 최근 산불로 인해 특별재난지역으로 선포된 경북 의성, 경남 산청∙하동, 울산 울주와 추가 피해가 우려되는 지역 주민들을 위해 성금 5억 원을 긴급 지원한다.
KT&G의 성금은 이번 산불로 피해를 입은 이재민들의 긴급 주거시설과 피해건물 복구비용, 생계비 및 구호물품 지원 등에 사용될 예정이며, 전국재해구호협회를 통해 전달된다.
이번 성금은 KT&G 임직원들이 자발적으로 참여해 조성한 기부성금인 ‘상상펀드’에서 마련됐다. ‘상상펀드’는 2011년 출범한 KT&G의 사회공헌기금으로 임직원들이 매월 급여의 일정 금액을 자발적으로 기부하면 회사가 동일한 금액을 더하는 매칭 그랜트 형태로 조성된다.
심영아 KT&G ESG경영실장은 “피해 지역의 조속한 정상화와 주민분들의 빠른 일상생활 복귀를 기원한다”며 “산불 피해 지역에 대한 지속적인 관심과 함께 다양한 방법으로 도움을 드릴 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
한편, KT&G의 자회사인 KGC인삼공사도 산불 피해 주민들에게 1억 원 상당의 정관장 홍삼 제품을 제공하며, 국가적 재난 지원에 적극적으로 동참하기로 했다.
KT&G는 지난해 강릉 산불 피해 지역에도 3억 원의 성금을 전달했으며, 2022년 경북 울진과 강원 삼척 등 동해안에서 발생한 산불 피해 지역에도 5억 원의 성금을 기부한 바 있다. 지난해에는 튀르키예 지진 피해 성금 3억 원을 지원하는 등 최근 10년간 국내외 재해복구 지원을 위해 총 68억 원 규모의 성금을 전달했다.
