[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 홍태용 김해시장이 14일 일본 도자기 문화의 중심지 아리타에서 조선 여성도공 백파선을 알리기 위한 많은 활동을 하고있는 쿠보타 히토시 관장을 김해한옥체험관에서 만났다.
이 자리에는 배선영 김해시 문화관광국장, 최석철 김해문화관광재단 대표이사, 김봉조 김해문화관광재단 경영기획본부장, 배창진 김해도예협회 이사장도 함께 배석했다.
아리타는 인구 2만 1천명의 소규모 마을로 한국과 인연이 깊은 곳이다. 1616년 조선도공 이삼평이 이즈미산(泉山)에서 도자기 흙을 발견해 일본최초의 백자 생산지가 되면서 번영하기 시작했다.
이 소식을 들은 백파선도 타케오에서 아리타로 이주해 백자 기술을 일본에 전수했다.
평상시에는 조용한 마을이지만 봄(4~5월)과 가을(11월)마다 열리는‘아리타 도자기 축제’기간에는 100만명 이상씩 관광객이 방문하고 있다.
아리타에는 백파선의 손자가 보은사(호온지) 경내에 세운‘만료묘태도파의 비(万了妙泰道婆/백파선의 법탑)’와 이삼평(가나가에) 가문과 백파선(후카우미) 가문을 중심으로 명절 때마다 고향을 그리워하는 마음을 담아 세웠다고 전해지는 ‘관음산제례묘’가 지금까지 남아있다.

이미 쿠보타 히토시관장은 한국 도예협회와 함께 한일 백파선 기념사업회를 운영했고, 김해의 도예가들이 아리타 도자기축제에 참가하는 일에 교두보 역할을 해왔다.
가야문화축제를 기해 한국을 방문한 쿠보타 관장은 “아리타와 김해는 백파선을 매개로 ‘도자’라는 문화를 공유하고 있는 도시”라며 “올 11월 분청도자기 축제 30주년에 아리타의 전통공예인 접시춤을 선보일 수 있기를 기대한다.”고 밝혔다.
홍태용 김해시장은 “일본에서 조선도공 백파선을 알리기 위한 구보타 관장의 노력에 감사를 드린다”며 “분청 도자기 축제와 아리타 도자기 축제가 함께 성장 할 수 있도록 교류확대를 위해 힘써 달라”고 당부했다.
