당진시(시장 오성환)가 지역 영유아들을 위한 보육 환경 개선에 한 걸음 더 나아갔다. 시는 지난 28일에 국공립 호반누리어린이집 개원식을 열었다고 29일에 밝혔다.
이번에 새롭게 문을 연 호반누리어린이집은 당진시 수청동에 위치한 호반써밋시그니처3차아파트 단지 안에 자리 잡았다. 특히 아파트 관리동 내 유휴 공간을 활용해 보육 시설로 탈바꿈시켰다.
호반누리어린이집은 총 56명의 영유아를 보육할 수 있는 정원을 갖추고 있다. 8개의 아늑하고 안전한 보육실에서 아이들이 생활한다. 시는 어린이집의 전문적인 운영을 위해 2024년 공개모집을 했다.
투명한 절차를 거쳐 신뢰할 수 있는 신규 위탁체를 선정. 위탁체 선정 후에는 어린이집 공간 전체에 대한 리모델링 공사를 진행. 아이들이 쾌적하고 즐거운 환경에서 생활하도록 만들었으며. 이러한 준비 과정을 마치고 지난 3월부터 어린이집 운영을 시작했다.
호반누리어린이집의 인가일자는 2025년 1월 22일이었다. 보육 연령은 만 0세부터 만 2세까지다. 통학차량은 운영하지 않는다.
오성환 당진시장이 직접 참석해 어린이집 개원을 축하했으며. 시장은 오전 10시 30분부터 개원식에 참여했다.

영유아보육법에 따라 국공립어린이집 설치는 의무화되고 있다. 2019년 9월 25일 이후 사용검사를 받은 500세대 이상 신규 공동주택 단지는 예외 없이 국공립어린이집을 설치하고 운영해야 한다. 이는 공동주택 단지 내 보육 수요를 충족하고, 부모들의 보육 부담을 줄여주기 위한 국가 정책이다.
현재 당진시의 국공립어린이집 비율은 전체 어린이집 중 21.1%를 차지한다. 총 23개소의 국공립 어린이집이 운영되고 있다. 이는 2025년 3월 기준으로 집계된 전국 평균 24.7%보다는 아직 낮은 수치다. 하지만 충청남도 전체 평균인 18.7%보다는 높은 수준을 유지하고 있다
