브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 권성동 국민의힘 원내대표는 8일 김문수 당 대선 후보가 한덕수 후보와의 '단일화 로드맵'을 받아들이지 않은데 대해 "알량한 대통령 후보 자리를 지키기 위한 것"이라고 비난했다.
권 원내대표는 이날 오전 당 비상대책위원회의에서 "저분이 우리가 지금까지 생각했던 민주화 투사인지 세 번의 국회의원과 두 번의 경기지사 그리고 노동부 장관을 역임한 우리 당의 중견 정치인인지 의심이 들었다. 정말 한심한 모습이었다"며 이같이 밝혔다.
그는 "정당은 당원들의 의사를 받들어야 한다. 정당은 정치적 결사체다. 당의 주인인 당원들의 뜻을 받드는 게 정치인의 숙명"이라며 "당원 80%가 넘는 당원들이 '단일화하라', 그것도 '후보 등록 전에 하라'라고 준엄한 명령을 내렸다. 그러면 김 후보는 이에 따르면 된다"고 강조했다.
이어 당 지도부가 경선때부터 보수 단일화를 염두에 두고 움직였다는 의혹에 대해선 "지도부가 그렇게 힘이 있으면 대선에 나갔겠지 대선 관리나 했겠나"라며 "수많은 국민과 당원들을 움직일 힘이 당 지도부에 있었으면 제가 대통령 후보에 나갔을 것"이라고 반박했다.
그러면서 "당의 제안이 일방적인 강요는 아니다. 본인이 약속한 사항을 지키라고 얘기하는 게 잘못된 것인가. 정치인이 국민, 당원과 한 약속을, 김 후보가 한 약속을 당이 지키라고 하는 것이 잘못인가. 과거의 용기와 신념을 되찾아서 단일화에 앞장서주길 바란다"고 호소했다.
