브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= 쿠팡이 글로벌 도서 브랜드와 손을 잡고 와우회원에게 해외 원서 5만 종의 무료배송을 시작한다.
쿠팡은 지난 14일 글로벌 출판사 ‘와일리(WILEY)’와 업무 제휴 협약식을 쿠팡 잠실 사옥에서 진행했다고 15일 밝혔다. 쿠팡이 글로벌 도서 출판사와 직거래하는 건 이번이 처음이다.
와일리는 1807년 설립 이후 200년 넘게 출판을 이어왔으며, 과학∙IT, 학술∙교과서, 의학 저널 분야에서 전문성을 높게 평가받고 있다. 미국의 출판 전문 권위지인 ‘퍼블리셔 위클리’가 지난해 선정한 ‘전세계에서 가장 큰 10대 출판사’에 이름을 올렸다.
이날 행사에는 웨인 리(Wayne Lee) 쿠팡 리테일 전무와 초멩 탄(Chor Meng Tan) 와일리 아시아 시니어 디렉터 등이 참석했다. 양사는 학교와 연구원 등 전문 분야에 종사하는 고객에게 쿠팡의 전국 물류망을 활용해 와일리의 고품질 학술 및 전문 도서를 제공하기 위한 상호 협력의 뜻을 다졌다.
쿠팡은 올해 안에 와일리가 보유한 5만여 종의 원서를 순차적으로 직매입해 배송할 방침이다. 이르면 오는 6월부터 로켓배송이 시작된다.
웨인 리 전무는 “이번 와일리와의 협업으로 쿠팡이 보유한 인문∙예술∙자기계발∙경제∙참고서 등 다양한 도서 셀렉션에 더해 유수의 전문 학술 원서까지 확대하게 됐다”며 “앞으로도 도서 셀렉션을 늘려나가며 고객들이 찾는 모든 분야의 도서를 로켓배송으로 제공할 것이다”고 전했다.
한편, 와우회원은 한 권만 구매해도 배송비 없이 무료배송∙무료반품 서비스를 받을 수 있으며, 최대 5%까지 추가 캐시 적립이 가능하다.
