(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천시교육청이 28일, 정서.행동 고위기 학생을 위한 인천 최초 ‘병원형 위(Wee)센터 참사랑도담학교’를 인천참사랑병원 내에 공식 개소했다고 밝혔다.
인천시교육청에 따르면, 병원형 Wee센터는 정신건강 위기 학생에게 입원 치료와 대안교육을 병행 제공하는 교육·의료 융합형 기관으로 중·고등학생을 대상으로 총 16명(긴급입원 4명, 위탁 입원 12명)을 수용하여, 학생 개별 특성에 맞춘 맞춤형 치유와 교육을 지원한다.
1개월간의 리모델링을 통해 병상 16개와 특별교실, 상담실, 업무 공간 등을 갖췄으며, 교육과정은 국어·사회 등의 일반 교과와 함께 변증법적 행동치료, 마음챙김 훈련, 가족 집단치료, 사회기술 훈련 등 치료 중심의 교과로 구성됐다.
인천시교육청은 입원 학생에게 최대 600만 원의 치료비를 지원하고, 퇴원 후 3개월간 정신건강 전문가의 사후관리를 제공한다.
이번 센터 개소로 학생·학부모의 심리적 부담 완화는 물론, 학업 중단 예방과 학교 복귀 후 안정적 교육 연계가 기대된다.
인천참사랑병원은 이번 센터 외에도 치유형 대안교육, 정신건강 학교 지원 사업 등을 운영 중이며, 시교육청은 병원 관계자 2명에게 교육감 표창을 수여했다.
도성훈 교육감은 “병원형 위(Wee)센터가 단순한 치료의 장을 넘어, 아이들이 다시 삶을 회복하고 꿈을 꾸는 공간이 되기를 바란다”며 “정서적·신체적 상처를 입은 아이들을 위해 병원과 교육이 함께 책임지는 체계를 고민해왔고, 오늘 그 결실을 보게 되어 감회가 깊다”고 말했다.
이어 “우리 사회는 지금 아이들이 마음 놓고 숨 쉴 공간조차 없는 시대”라며 “참사랑도담학교가 그 시작점이 되어, 더 많은 위기 청소년에게 삶의 문턱을 넘는 힘이 되기를 소망한다”고 덧붙였다.
한편, 최근 초·중등교육법 개정으로 전문가 판단에 따라 위기 학생에게 긴급 상담 및 치료 지원이 가능해졌으며, 이에 따라 인천시교육청은 통합적 지원 체계를 지속 확대해 나갈 계획이다.
