브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 한국마사회 말박물관이 제18회 정기 특별전 “그 시절 우리가 사랑했던 경주마”를 30일 오전 10시에 개막한다. 이번 전시는 1980년대 뚝섬 경마장 시절부터 2010년대까지 한국 경마의 역사를 이끈 스타 경주마 10두의 활약상을 재조명하는 자리다.
뚝섬 시절 15연승 신화를 쓴 ‘포경선’, 과천으로의 경마장 이전으로 악벽을 극복하고 정상에 오른 ‘차돌’, 그랑프리 2연패 후 적수가 없어 은퇴한 회색 암말 ‘가속도’, 어마어마한 부담중량을 이겨낸 ‘대견’, 43승이라는 최다승 기록 보유자 ‘신세대’, 국산마 최초 그랑프리 제패로 국민 사기를 높인 ‘새강자’ 등 시대별 대표 스타 경주마들이 포함돼 있다.
2000년대 이후의 명마들도 전시에 함께한다. 한국 경마 역사상 최다인 17연승을 기록한 ‘미스터파크’, 그랑프리 2연패의 ‘동반의강자’, 대통령배 4연패와 두바이 원정의 신화를 쓴 ‘트리플나인’ 등이 전시됐다.
화려한 전적만을 조명하는 것이 아니다. 101전 101패라는 전무후무한 기록을 남긴 ‘차밍걸’ 역시 전시에 이름을 올렸다. 단 한번도 우승하지 못했지만, 최다 출전이라는 성실함으로 ‘꼴찌말’이라는 애칭과 함께 팬들의 꾸준한 사랑을 받은 경주마로 관람객들의 관심을 끌 것으로 기대된다.
이번 전시의 하이라이트는 AI 기술을 통해 경주마들의 옛 모습을 생생하게 재현한 콘텐츠다. 옛 영화관을 연상시키는 메인 영상 코너에서는 스틸사진 속의 경주마가 마치 살아 있는 듯한 모습과 AI 음성으로 자신의 이야기를 직접 들려준다. 당시의 열기를 담은 잡지, 트로피, 은퇴 기념패, 편자 등도 함께 전시된다.
평소 보기 어려운 이들의 혈통증명서와 개체식별확인서도 전시된다. 여기에는 부모와 모마를 비롯한 출생 정보, 생산자, 마주, 털 색상, 가마까지 세세하게 담겨있어 경마가 혈통 스포츠라는 사실을 잘 보여줄 예정이다.

개막식이 열리는 첫날 방문하는 관람객 선착순 200명에게 팝콘 증정 이벤트도 진행된다.
