[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시가 산림 정책 분야에서 전국적인 우수성을 인정받았다.
진주시는 행정안전부와 산림청이 공동 주관한 2025년 지방자치단체 합동평가에서 산림 분야 우수기관으로 선정됐다고 29일 밝혔다.
이번 평가는 전국 17개 광역지자체와 산하 기초지자체를 대상으로 2024년 실적을 바탕으로 이뤄졌다.
진주시는 산림 분야 6개 지표 평가에서 경남도 내 1위, 전국 기초자치단체 가운데에서도 상위권에 올라 산림 행정의 모범 사례로 꼽혔다.
시는 월아산 숲속의 진주와 우드랜드, 진주건축문화제 등 자연친화적인 공간 조성과 체험 프로그램을 운영해 지난해 약 35만명이 방문하는 성과를 거뒀다.
이는 산림 자원의 복합적 활용과 시민 접근성 강화, 지역 관광 자원 연계 면에서 높은 평가를 받은 것으로 보인다.
진주시 관계자는 “시민과 함께 만들어가는 지속가능한 산림 자원 육성과 그 가치를 높이기 위해 앞으로도 다양한 시책을 추진할 계획이다”고 말했다.
한편 진주시는 오는 6월 13일부터 22일까지 초전공원 일원에서 2025 대한민국 정원산업박람회를 개최한다.
