충남 홍성군이 제70회 현충일을 맞아 오는 6일, 홍성읍 소재 충령사에서 순국선열과 호국영령을 추모하는 추념식을 거행한다.
이번 행사에는 이용록 홍성군수를 비롯해 보훈단체 관계자, 국가유공자, 유가족, 지역 학생 등 600여 명이 참석할 예정이다.
행사는 가곡 공연을 시작으로 '국기에 대한 경례', '애국가 제창', 전국적으로 오전 10시 정각에 울리는 사이렌 소리에 맞춰 '순국선열과 호국영령에 대한 1분간의 묵념' 순으로 진행된다.
이어 헌화 및 분향, 추념사와 추도사, 헌시 낭독이 차례로 이어질 예정이다. 마지막으로는 '현충일 노래'를 함께 제창하며 행사를 마무리한다.
홍성군 관계자는 “국가를 위해 목숨을 바친 분들의 고귀한 희생정신을 결코 잊어서는 안 된다”며 “많은 군민들께서 이번 추념식에 동참해 순국선열과 호국영령께 감사의 마음을 전하는 뜻깊은 시간을 가져주시길 바란다”고 밝혔다.
한편, 추념식이 열리는 충령사는 홍성 출신 군경 및 노무자 등 보훈 유공자 771위의 위패가 봉안된 지역의 대표적인 보훈시설이다. 경내에는 충혼탑, 충효탑, 국가유공충혼탑, 월남 참전 기념탑, 충령탑 등이 자리잡고 있어, 매년 현충일마다 지역 사회가 함께 모여 나라를 위해 헌신한 이들의 넋을 기리고 있다.
홍성군은 이번 현충일 추념식을 통해 공동체가 한마음으로 국가유공자에 대한 예우를 되새기고, 그 숭고한 정신을 후세에 전하는 계기를 마련한다는 방침이다.
