김동근 시장은 추념사를 통해 “지금 우리가 누리고 있는 자유와 민주주의, 평화와 번영은 순국선열과 호국영령들의 피와 땀, 눈물이 만들어낸 소중한 결실”이라며 “국가유공자와 보훈가족이 자부심을 느낄 수 있도록 보훈문화 확산과 예우 강화에 더욱 힘쓰겠다”고 말했다.
