대통령실이 11일 부동산 차명 관리 논란·차명 대출 의혹이 불거진 오광수 민정수석에 대해 "일부 부적절한 처신이 있다고 보나 본인이 그에 대한 안타까움을 잘 표하고 있다고 판단한다"며 원론적 입장을 전했다.
대통령실 관계자는 이날 오후 용산 대통령실에서 취재진과 만나 오 민정수석 관련 여러 논란에 이같은 입장을 밝혔다. 국민의힘 측 사퇴촉구를 일축했으나 일단 한 발 물러선 형국이다.
그러면서 '인사 검증 중 오 민정수석 논란을 발견 못했나' '오 민정수석 거취 문제는 검토 대상 아니냐' '대통령실 내부 검증 과정서 소명을 충분히 했다는 의미인가' 등 취재진 질의에 "부적절한 처신이 있었으나 일단 본인이 그에 대한 대답을 잘했다 판단하고 있다"고 원론적 입장만 되풀이했다.
오 민정수석은 지난 검사 시절 친구를 통해 아내 부동산을 차명 관리한 혐의를 받고 있는데 더해 지난 2007년 10억 대 차명 대출을 받은 의혹이 새롭게 제기됐다.
현재 사정기관을 총괄하는 오 민정수석에 대한 재산 관련 문제가 제기되고 있으나 이재명 대통령은 임명 철회는 검토하지 않고 있는 분위기다.
한편 국민의힘은 논평을 통해 "명백한 부동산실명법 공직자윤리법 위반"이라며 "재산 은닉 의혹 받는 인사가 민정수석을 맡는다면 어느 공무원이 민정실을 두려워하겠느냐. 대한민국 공직사회를 조롱하는 일"이라고 비판했다.
