(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천 서구가 11일, 검단신도시 물류유통시설용지(물류3부지)에 물류창고를 건립하려던 사업자가 사업을 공식 철회했다고 밝혔다.
서구에 따르면, 해당 사업은 2022년 사업자가 한국토지주택공사(LH)의 공모를 통해 우선협상대상자로 선정되며 본격화됐다.
하지만, 해당 부지(당하동 1333) 주변으로 약 3,700세대의 단지의 아파트가 밀집된 점, 초등학교와 유치원이 가까이에 위치한 점, 드림로에 인접해 있어 화물차로 인한 교통 혼잡 및 안전 문제 등을 들어 주민과 정치권의 우려가 제기됐다.
서구청은 이러한 우려를 반영해 법적 근거 및 규정을 면밀히 검토하고, 동시에 국토교통부와 LH 등 관계기관을 지속 방문해 반대입장을 강력히 전달하며 적극적인 대응에 나섰다.
이후 사업자는 2024년 5월 부동산 투자회사를 재설립 후 인가를 재신청하여 사업 재추진에 대한 의사를 내비쳤지만, 서구청과 지역 정치권, 주민들이 긴밀히 협력해 대응한 끝에 사업자가 결국 사업을 철회하게 됐다.
강범석 서구청장은 “검단신도시는 수도권 균형발전을 선도하는 자족형 친환경 녹색도시를 지향하는 만큼, 해당 부지에는 물류창고보다 도시의 균형적 발전과 주민 친화적인 시설이 들어서기를 희망한다”고 뜻을 밝혔다.
