전북 익산시는 1976년 개장 이후부터 사용한 '여산휴게소' 명칭을 '익산 미륵사지 휴게소'로 변경하고 백제 왕도의 정체성을 알리는 상징적 이정표를 세우는 제막식을 11일 상행선 본관 앞에서 개최했다.
제막식은 정헌율 익산시장과 김경진 익산시의회 의장을 비롯 국회의원ㆍ도ㆍ시의원ㆍ한국도로공사 관계자 및 여산면민 등 100여 명이 참석한 가운데 간판 제막 퍼포먼스(미륵사지 도시 익산 상징)ㆍ감사패 전달ㆍ축하공연 등의 순으로 성황리에 열렸다.
