[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 조규일 진주시장은 대곡면 송곡마을 일원을 연결하는 시도 9호선 도로 개설 현장을 방문해 사업 진행 현황을 점검하고, 지역 주민들과 직접 소통하는 시간을 가졌다고 12일 밝혔다.
이날 조 시장은 마을 주민들에게 도로 개설 사업의 경과를 설명하고, 공사 현장을 둘러보며 안전 및 공정 관리 실태를 점검했다.
이번에 추진 중인 ‘대곡 송곡마을(시도 9호선) 도로 개설 사업은 총사업비 53억원이 투입해 연장 1.7km, 폭 8.0m의 왕복 2차선 도로가 신설된다.
이 구간은 대곡초등학교에서 송곡마을까지를 잇는 주요 연결도로로 마을 주민은 물론 인근 와룡리, 가정리 농가들이 월아·단목지구의 시설하우스 단지로 진입하는 주 통행로로 이용하고 있다.
하지만 좁은 도로폭과 급경사로 인해 상시 교통사고 위험에 노출돼 있어 주민들의 지속적인 도로 확장 요구가 이어져 왔다.
이에 진주시는 지난 2021년 40억원을 들여 1.2km 구간을 먼저 개통, 지난 2024년에는 9억원으로 송곡마을회관 인근 350m 구간을 개설해 연결했다.
이어 올해 예산 4억원을 투입해 종점부 155m 구간을 완공할 예정이며, 해당 구간이 오는 6월 중 개통되면 전체 도로 확장 사업이 최종 마무리된다.
조규일 시장은 “이번사업은 주민들의 일상 이동 편의는 물론 농업 물류와 영농 여건 개선에도 실질적인 도움이 될 것이다”며“앞으로도 지역 생활 기반 인프라를 지속적으로 개선해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
