충청남도가 국립공주대학교·충남대학교(통합형), 순천향대학교, 연암대학교, 한서대학교 등 도내 4개 대학의 ‘글로컬대학 30’ 본지정을 위해 본격적인 행보에 나섰다.
도는 12일 도청 대회의실에서 ‘2025년도 글로컬대학 선정을 위한 실무 전담반(TF) 1차 회의’를 개최하고, 사업 본지정을 위한 구체적인 실행전략 마련에 착수했다.
이번 실무 전담반은 박정주 행정부지사를 단장으로, 강성기 도 기획조정실장이 부단장을 맡았다. 도청 및 시군 20여 개 관련 부서뿐 아니라 충남테크노파크, LG CNS 등 지역 산업체와 협력기관, 대학 등으로 구성된 지자체-산업계-대학-연구기관 간 협업체계를 토대로 꾸려졌다.
회의에서는 교육부의 본지정 평가 기준을 면밀히 분석한 뒤, 지역 특성과 자원, 인프라를 반영한 실효성 있는 실행계획 수립 방안이 집중 논의됐다. 행정적·재정적 지원은 물론, 대학과 지역이 함께 성장할 수 있는 구체적인 연계 전략과 역할 분담에 대해서도 의견이 오갔다.
강성기 실장은 “올해는 글로컬대학 선정의 마지막 기회인 만큼, 충남도와 시군, 지역대학, 기업, 기관 모두가 한뜻으로 움직여야 한다”며 “지·산·학·연이 긴밀하게 협력해 반드시 본지정이라는 실질적인 성과로 이어질 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.

‘글로컬대학 30’ 사업은 교육부가 주관하는 대학혁신 정책으로, 학령인구 감소와 지역대학 소멸 위기에 대응하고자 대학과 지역사회의 경계를 허물고, 대학이 지역 성장의 핵심 동반자로 자리매김하도록 지원하는 구조개편 사업이다.
이 사업에 본지정되면 해당 대학은 향후 5년간 최대 1000억 원의 국비를 지원받게 되며, 각종 규제 특례 및 제도 혁신도 우선 적용된다.
앞서 교육부는 지난 5월 27일 ‘2025년 글로컬대학 30’ 예비 지정 대학 18곳을 발표했고, 충남에서는 국립공주대·충남대(통합형), 순천향대, 연암대, 한서대 등 4곳 선정돼 본지정을 준비 중이다.
충남도는 이번 실무 전담반 회의를 시작으로 향후 각 대학별 맞춤형 전략 수립과 지역연계 프로젝트 기획 등을 통해 본지정 달성 가능성을 끌어올릴 방침이다.

Chungcheongnam-do has begun full-scale efforts to designate four universities in the province, including Kongju National University, Chungnam National University (integrated), Soonchunhyang University, Yeonam University, and Hanseo University, as the main sites of the ‘Global University 30’.

If a university is designated as a full-scale university for this project, it will receive up to 100 billion won in national funding over the next five years, and various regulatory exceptions and institutional innovations will also be applied first.
