(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천대학교가 16일, 교육부의 ‘지역혁신중심 대학지원체계(RISE)’ 사업 출범을 계기로 지역혁신을 선도하는 대표 거점대학으로의 도약을 예고하고 있다.
인천대에 따르면, 2025년부터 본격 시행되는 교육부의 RISE 사업은 지자체가 대학 지원의 주체가 되어, 지역발전 전략과 직접 연계한 5개년 기본계획을 수립하고, 대학·지자체·산업계·연구기관이 함께 거버넌스를 운영하여 지역산업, 산학협력, 평생교육 생태계 전반을 구축하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다.
인천대학교는‘지역과 인재의 동반성장 허브’라는 비전을 내걸고, 인천테크노파크가 주관한 인천 RISE 사업 공모에서 총 196억 원 중 59억 원의 첫해 사업비를 수주하는 성과를 거뒀다.
이 중 인천대의 순수 사업비는 늘봄사업을 포함하면 연간 42억 원, 5년간 총 210억 원에 이른다.
이번 사업은 인천대학교가 지난 3년간 추진한 LINC 3.0 사업의 성과를 바탕으로 한다.
대학은 인천지역의 전략산업인 바이오, 로봇, 해양 분야를 중심으로 기업협업센터(ICC)를 구축했으며, 이를 확장해 반도체, 스마트물류, 미래모빌리티, 탄소중립, 관광 등 핵심 산업 분야와 연계한 고급인재 양성에 박차를 가할 예정이다.
특히 바이오·반도체·스마트물류 중심의 융합 교육을 통해 산업현장의 수요를 충족하는 고급 실무 인재를 육성하고, 로봇·미래차·드론 등 스마트 모빌리티 분야의 교육을 강화한다.
폐자원의 자원화 및 저탄소 기술 개발, 해양·섬 관광 전문가 양성을 위한 ‘탄소중립 실현 산업혁신’,‘인천 보물섬 168 특성화’ 프로젝트 등을 전개하며 지역산업과의 연계를 강화해 나갈 것이다.
이와 함께 창업 활성화, 재외동포 유학생 지원 프로그램도 병행하며 지역사회 전반에 기여하는 역할을 확대할 계획이다.
인천대학교는 이번 RISE 사업을 단순한 재정사업이 아닌 ‘참여형 지역혁신 모델’로 확장하고, 지역의 다양한 구성원이 문제해결의 주체로 직접 참여하는 구조를 통해, 수요자 중심의 과제를 발굴하고 실질적인 지역 변화로 연결하는 맞춤형 전략을 실현하려고 한다.
이를 위해 워크숍, 설명회, 전문가 포럼, 지역협의체 등 개방적이고 상시적인 소통 체계를 구축하고, 정책과 사업의 공동 기획·추진을 통해 지역 내 신뢰와 협력 기반을 공고히 다지는 전략을 추진해 나갈 것이다.
김규원 인천대 RISE사업단장은 “대학의 혁신성이 지역의 혁신으로 이어지고 이것이 대학의 성과로 다시 돌아오는 우수 모델을 만들어 나가겠다”고 밝혔으며, 이인재 총장은 “인천대학교는 이제 교육기관을 넘어, 사회적 책임을 실현하는 플랫폼으로 자리매김하여 지역과 함께 호흡하고 성장하는 대한민국 대표 국립대학으로서의 위상을 더욱 공고히 해나갈 계획이다.”고 강조했다.
