(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천시가 지난 6월 10일 국제전기전자공학회 산하 회로 및 시스템 학회로부터 ‘2029 전기전자공학자협회 회로 및 시스템 국제 심포지엄(IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems 2029, 이하 ISCAS 2029)’의 최종 개최지로 인천이 공식 선정됐다고 밝혔다.
인천시에 따르면, 세계 최대 규모의 반도체 분야 국제학술대회인 ‘ISCAS 2029’는 회로·시스템·인공지능·반도체 분야에서 세계적 권위를 자랑하는 학술대회로, 전 세계 1,500여 명의 산업 전문가들이 참석하여 국내·외 학계와 산업계의 활발한 교류의 장이 될 것으로 기대된다.
인천시는 ISCAS 2029 유치를 위해 2023년부터 학회와 지속적으로 교류하며 기반을 다져왔다.
특히, 인하대학교 이한호 교수와 협력해 2025년 3월, 공식 지지서한을 담은 1차 유치의향서를 학회에 제출하였고, 이어 ‘ISCAS 한국 유치단’을 구성해 전략적인 유치 활동을 전개해 왔다.
이러한 민관 협력과 체계적인 대응이 경쟁 도시들과의 접전 속에서 성공적인 유치로 이어졌다.
최종 유치전은 2025년 5월 25일, 영국 런던에서 열린 ‘ISCAS 2025’ 현장에서 펼쳐졌다.
이 자리에서 이한호 교수는 유정복 인천광역시장의 유치 지지영상과 함께 인천 송도의 우수한 마이스 인프라, 국제적 접근성, 풍부한 관광자원을 소개하며 인천의 경쟁력을 발표했다.
김영신 시 국제협력국장은 “인천시는 그동안 쌓아온 국제행사 개최 경험을 바탕으로 이번 국제회의 유치에 성공할 수 있었다”며 “이번 행사가 세계 산학연 간 활발한 교류의 장이 될 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
이어 “앞으로도 지역경제 활성화에 기여할 수 있는 국제회의를 지속적으로 유치해 나가겠다”고 덧붙였다.

He added, “We will continue to host international conferences that can contribute to revitalizing the local economy.”
