세종특별자치시의 데이터센터 유치 계획을 둘러싸고 지역 주민들과의 의견을 나누기 위한 자리가 마련됐다.
상병헌 세종시의원(더불어민주당)은 지난 17일 오후, 나성동 복합커뮤니티센터 대회의실에서 간담회를 열고 시민들과 소통하는 시간을 가졌다.
이번 간담회는 세종시가 어진동 667번지, 가름로 194에 위치한 파이낸스2차 건물에 약 40MW 규모의 데이터센터를 조성하려는 계획을 추진하는 가운데 진행됐다.
상 의원은 “데이터센터 유치가 진행 중인 사실조차 알지 못하는 시민들이 많다”며 “알고 있더라도 규모나 진행 상황에 대한 정보가 부족한 실정이라, 공론화가 필요하다고 판단했다”고 간담회 개최 배경을 설명했다.
상 의원은 행사 초반, 데이터센터 추진의 배경과 시설 규모, 진행과정 및 유치에 따른 장단점 등을 차례로 설명하며 참석자들의 이해를 도왔다. 이어진 질의응답 시간에는 주민들의 우려와 질문에 직접 답했다.

현재 대통령 직속 위원회는 총 20개가 존재하며, 이들이 세종으로 이전하게 되면 상가공실 해소 및 인근 상권에 활력을 불어넣는 효과가 클 것이라는 설명이다.
이번 간담회는 단순한 정보 전달에 그치지 않고, 시민 참여의 필요성과 투명한 행정절차에 대한 요구로 이어졌다.
상 의원은 “데이터센터 유치는 그 과정을 투명하고 공개적으로 시민들에게 알리고 그 득실을 꼼꼼하게 따져서 유치 여부를 결정해야 함을 강조하며, 특히 책임있는 위치에 있는 분들과 시민사회단체들의 관심과 적극적인 행동이 있어야 한다"고 주문했다.
이날 간담회에는 세종시청 담당 부서 관계자와 함께 한선영 나성동 주민자치회장, 정선헌 어진동 주민자치회장, 김경환 통장협의회장 등 20여 명의 주민이 참석했다.
