산림청 산하 한국수목원정원관리원(이사장 심상택)은 오는 10월 26일까지 국립세종수목원에서 자연 친화적 교육 프로그램인 ‘특별한 수업’을 운영한다.
이번 프로그램은 정원·수목원 분야의 민간기관과 협업해, 관람객이 자연을 보다 깊이 체험하고 배울 수 있도록 기획됐다. 교육은 국립세종수목원의 야간개장 일정과 연계해 진행되며, 자체 교육 역량을 갖춘 민간 단체 12곳이 참여한다.
프로그램은 국립세종수목원 사계절온실 내 ‘사계절배움터’에서 열리며, 다양한 연령층이 즐길 수 있는 체험 중심 콘텐츠로 구성됐다. 특히, 친환경 제품을 생산하는 ㈜손끝이 진행하는 ‘꿀벌벌집 밀랍 공예체험’은 멸종 위기에 처한 꿀벌을 주제로 한다. 참가자들은 꿀벌 생태계의 중요성을 배우고, 밀랍을 활용한 공예품을 직접 만들어보며 환경 보호의 의미를 되새기는 시간을 갖게 된다.

이 외에도 프리저브드 플라워를 활용한 액자 만들기, 우리나라 자생식물 종자 심기 등 다양한 교육 프로그램이 운영된다. 모든 체험은 남녀노소 누구나 부담 없이 참여할 수 있도록 구성됐으며, 참가비 없이 현장 선착순 접수를 통해 참여할 수 있다.
신창호 국립세종수목원장은 “국립세종수목원은 민간 교육기관과의 협력을 통해 정원 문화 확산과 정원 교육 활성화를 적극 추진하고 있다”며 “많은 관람객이 자연을 깊이 이해하고 즐기는 계기가 되기를 바란다”고 밝혔다.
