장인화 회장은 18일(현지시간) 뉴욕에서 글로벌 철강 전문 분석기관인 월드스틸다이나믹스(WSD)가 주최한 글로벌 포럼(Global Steel Dynamics Forum)에 참석해 초일류 미래소재 기업으로 도약하기 위한 포스코그룹의 전략을 소개했다. 이 자리에는 데이비드 버릿 US스틸 CEO, 로렌코 곤칼베스 클리브랜드 클리프스 회장, TV 나렌드란 타타스틸 CEO 등 세계 철강업계 리더와 관계자 500여 명이 함께했다.
특히 이날 포럼에서는 포스코홀딩스가 글로벌 철강그룹사 중 처음으로 WSD 명예의전당(Hall of Fame)에 영구 헌액되는 기념식이 열려 그 의미를 더했다.
포스코홀딩스는 WSD가 2002년부터 전 세계 35개 철강사를 대상으로 기술 혁신, 생산 규모, 원가 절감, 재무 건전성 등 23개 항목을 심사하는 '세계에서 가장 경쟁력 있는 철강기업' 평가에서 2010년부터 15년 연속 1위에 선정되는 영예를 안아왔다. 이러한 최고 경쟁력을 인정받아 이번에 명예의전당에 이름을 올리게 된 것이다.

라운드테이블에는 코리아소사이어티 캐슬린 스티븐스 이사장, 토마스 번 회장, 메릴랜드대 제이 리 석좌교수, 미국 에너지협회 마크 메네제스 회장을 비롯해 양국의 AI, 지정학, 에너지 분야 전문가와 석학들이 참석해 자리를 빛냈다.
이 자리에서는 글로벌 경제 블록화 등 지정학적 불확실성 속에서 철강, 이차전지 소재 그리고 에너지 분야에서의 한미 협력 기회에 대한 심도 있는 논의가 이뤄졌다.

Around 500 people including David Burrett, CEO of US Steel, Laurenco Goncalves, Chairman of Cleveland Cliffs, and TV Narendran, CEO of Tata Steel, and other global steel industry leaders and officials attended the event.
In particular, the forum was more meaningful as POSCO Holdings was the first global steel group company to be permanently inducted into the WSD Hall of Fame.

The roundtable was graced by experts and scholars in the fields of AI, geopolitics, and energy from both countries, including Korea Society Chairman Kathleen Stephens, Chairman Thomas Byrne, University of Maryland Professor Jay Lee, and American Energy Association Chairman Mark Menezes.
The event featured in-depth discussions on opportunities for Korea-US cooperation in the fields of steel, secondary battery materials, and energy amid geopolitical uncertainties such as the global economic bloc.
