(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천해양경찰서가 20일, 해루질용 불법어구를 제조하고 판매한 일당을 검거했다고 밝혔다.
인천해경에 따르면 수산자원관리법 위반 등 혐의로 A(40대·여)씨 등 제조업체 대표 2명, 유통업체 대표 9명 등 총 13명을 불구속 입건했다.
제조업체 대표 A씨는 2022년부터 올해 5월까지 불법어구인 쇠추형 꽃게망을 중국에 제작 의뢰한 뒤 국내에서 완성시켜 택배로 6천200여 개를 판매해 2천500만 원 상당의 수익을 올린 혐의를 받고 있다.
유통업체 대표 B(30대·여)씨는 2020년부터 올해 5월까지 와이어형 꽃게망 290여 개를 판매해 420만 원 상당의 수익을 올린 혐의를 받고 있다.
인천해경은 해루질용 불법어구 유통을 차단하기 위해 지난 5월부터 불법어구 제조·유통사범에 대한 집중단속을 벌였다.
인천해경이 이번 단속에서 압수한 와이어형 꽃게망과 쇠추형 꽃게망, 낚시 작살총, 오지창, 개불펌프(일명 ‘빠라뽕’) 등 불법어구는 총 6천400여 점으로, 시가 1억3천500만 원에 달한다.
특히 날카로운 낚시용 작살이 있는 작살총은 사용에 주의가 필요한 위험한 불법어구다.
수산자원관리법에 따르면 사용이 금지된 어구를 제작·보관·진열·판매하면 1천만 원 이하의 벌금에 처해진다.
인천해경 관계자는 “최근 인천 및 서해안 일대 갯벌과 해수욕장에서 해루질을 하다 밀물에 고립되는 사고가 잇따라 발생하고 있다”며 “불법어구를 사용하면 수산물을 대량으로 포획할 수 있다 보니 물때를 놓쳐 사고 위험에 처할 수 있다”고 말했다.
아울러, “불법어구를 이용한 수산물 대량 포획으로 수산자원 고갈 등 해양 생태계를 파괴시킬 뿐만 아니라 어업인과의 갈등도 첨예해지고 있다”며 “불법어구를 이용한 해루질을 사전 차단하기 위해 지속적으로 단속을 실시할 방침”이라고 강조했다.
