20일 군산해양경찰서에 따르면 이날 오전 5시 52분께 소룡포구 앞 바다에 사람이 빠져 있다는 신고를 접수했다.
구조 신고를 받고 출동한 해경은 당시 안벽을 붙잡고 있던 A씨(50대)를 발견하고 직접 바다로 뛰어들어 안전하게 구조하는데 성공했다.

A씨는 바다로 추락한 뒤 조류에 휩쓸려 금란도까지 약 200m 가량 떠밀려 간 것으로 알려졌다.
