대전시농업기술센터(소장 이효숙)가 기술 중심의 스마트농업을 지역사회와의 상생 모델로 확장하고 있다.
농업기술센터는 지난 20일, 스마트농업 테스트베드 교육장에서 수확한 토마토 50kg을 유성구 진잠동 행정복지센터에 전달했다. 이번 기부는 단순한 성과 공유를 넘어, 농업 교육의 사회적 책임을 실천하는 사례로 주목받고 있다.
해당 토마토는 농업기술센터가 추진 중인 ‘스마트농업 경영실습 교육’ 프로그램을 통해 재배된 것이다. 지난 3월부터 약 4개월간, 총 18명의 교육생이 스마트팜 이론 교육과 현장 실습을 병행하며 직접 키운 결과물이다.
이효숙 소장은 “스마트농업은 단순한 기술 습득을 넘어, 지역사회와 함께 성장하는 방향으로 나아가야 한다”며 “교육의 성과가 공동체로 확산될 수 있도록 앞으로도 다양한 나눔의 가치를 공유해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
기부받은 토마토는 관내 취약계층 가정에 전달될 예정이다.
박두찬 진잠동장은 “대전시농업기술센터에서 첨단 기술을 활용해 재배한 토마토는 크기, 당도, 식감 면에서 매우 우수하다”며 “이렇게 귀한 농산물을 지역 취약계층에게 나눌 수 있어 큰 의미가 있다”고 감사의 뜻을 전했다.
한편 대전시농업기술센터는 지난해 농촌진흥청이 주관한 ‘2024 스마트농업 테스트베드 교육장 경진대회’에서 대상을 수상하며 전국적인 주목을 받았다. 이 센터는 스마트농업 기반 확산과 전문인력 양성에 주력해오며, 도시농업과 첨단 농업의 연결점으로서의 역할을 강화해나가고 있다.
