【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=선린대학교(총장 곽진환) 응급구조과와 간호학과 학생들이 지난 22일 포항 송도솔밭과 송도해수욕장 일원에서 열린 ‘제3회 대한민국 맨발걷기 축제’에 참여해 다양한 봉사활동으로 지역사회에 온기를 더했다.

이날 학생들은 행사장에 마련된 심폐소생술(CPR) 및 자동심장충격기(AED) 체험 부스를 운영하며 시민들에게 응급처치 교육을 제공했다. 아울러 혈압·혈당 측정 부스도 함께 운영해 방문객들의 기본 건강 상태를 체크하고 간단한 상담 서비스도 제공하는 등 시민들의 건강증진에 기여했다.
행사 기간 동안 학생들은 코스 안전 관리 등 행사 전반의 지원 업무에도 참여하며 원활한 행사 운영을 도왔다. 시민들은 응급처치 체험을 통해 응급상황 대처법을 배우는 한편 자신의 건강 상태를 확인하는 뜻깊은 시간을 가졌으며, 현장에서는 참여자들의 큰 호응이 이어졌다.
응급구조과 2학년 손건 학생은 “시민들이 진지하게 교육에 참여해주고 감사의 인사를 전할 때 큰 보람을 느꼈다”며 “내가 배운 지식이 실제로 누군가에게 도움이 된다는 점이 뿌듯했다”고 소감을 전했다.
현진숙 응급구조과 학과장은 “응급처치는 전문 인력뿐 아니라 일반 시민 모두가 반드시 알아야 하는 생명 지식”이라며 “학생들이 이번 현장 체험을 통해 봉사의 가치를 배우고 시민들에게도 소중한 생명교육 기회를 제공할 수 있어 뜻깊었다”고 말했다.
한편, 선린대학교는 응급구조과와 간호학과를 중심으로 정기적인 응급처치 교육과 건강 캠페인을 통해 지역사회 건강증진과 인재 양성에 앞장서고 있다.

Hyun Jin-sook, the head of the Department of Emergency Medical Services, said, “First aid is life knowledge that not only professionals but also ordinary citizens must know,” and “It was meaningful that students learned the value of service through this field experience and were able to provide valuable life education opportunities to citizens.”
Meanwhile, Seonrin University is taking the lead in promoting community health and fostering talent through regular first aid training and health campaigns centered around the Department of Emergency Medical Services and the Department of Nursing.
