시는 23일 장상길 부시장 주재로 ‘새정부 공약 국정과제화 추진 점검 회의’를 개최하고, 포스텍 의과대학 설립, 철강·이차전지 산업 특별대책 등 지역 미래 발전을 좌우할 주요 현안의 국정과제 반영 전략을 심도 있게 논의했다.
이번 회의는 지난 16일 새롭게 출범한 국정기획위원회가 국정운영 로드맵 수립 작업에 착수함에 따라 선제적으로 마련된 조치다. 포항시는 지역 공약 실행계획을 점검하고, 정부 정책 방향과의 연계를 강화해 시의 역점사업이 국정과제에 포함될 수 있도록 구체적인 실행 방안을 모색하고 있다.
이날 회의에서는 ▲철강산업 위기 극복 특별대책 ▲영일만 횡단대교 건설 ▲글로벌 이차전지 공급망 핵심 거점 육성 ▲수소·철강·신소재 특화지구 조성 ▲통합신공항 광역교통망 접근성 강화 등 정부 공약과 연계된 주요 현안들이 집중 논의됐다.
아울러 포항시 자체 역점사업인 ▲포스텍 의과대학 설립 ▲제2차 이전공공기관 유치 ▲수소에너지 고속도로 구축 ▲초격차 AI인프라 메가클러스터 조성 ▲경북 동해안권 국립보훈요양원 건립 ▲2027 이클레이(ICLEI) 세계총회 유치 등도 국정과제에 포함될 수 있도록 전방위적 노력을 다하기로 했다.
시는 우선 경북도 차원의 국정과제 반영을 추진한 뒤, 중앙부처와 정치권을 직접 찾아 실행계획을 설명하고 사업 필요성을 적극적으로 설득해 나갈 계획이다.
장상길 부시장은 “국정과제 반영과 국가예산 확보는 포항의 미래 성장 동력을 좌우할 핵심 과제”라며 “경북도, 중앙정부, 정치권과 긴밀히 협력해 포항의 주요 사업들이 새 정부 국정과제에 포함될 수 있도록 모든 역량을 집중하겠다”고 강조했다.
