인천시에 따르면, 이번 검사는 인천시 위생정책과와 보건환경연구원이 협력해 지난 3월부터 6월까지 진행됐으며, 온라인과 오프라인에서 판매 중인 식물성 단백질 기반의 비건식품 35건을 대상으로 이뤄졌다.
주요 검사항목은 영양성분(단백질, 나트륨 함량), 3-MCPD(제조 공정 중 식물성 단백질이 산분해되는 과정에서 생성되는 오염물질), 식품첨가물(보존료, 아질산이온) 등이다.
영양성분 분석 결과, 단백질 함량은 1개 제품에서 표시량의 48%로 기준에 미달했고, 나트륨 함량은 2개 제품에서 각각 표시량의 203%, 135%가 검출되어 관련 법령에 따라 행정조치가 이뤄졌다.
3-MCPD와 보존료는 모든 제품에서 검출되지 않았으며, 아질산이온은 최대 0.0065 g/kg으로 나타나 육류 기준치인 0.07 g/kg 미만을 크게 밑도는 수준으로, 안전성에는 문제가 없는 것으로 확인됐다.
