경기청년 사다리프로그램 3기 338명, 8개국 12개 대학으로 출발

경기도가 지난 6월 21일 경기도청 다산홀에서 청년에게 해외대학 연수 경험을 제공해 사회적 격차 해소와 다양한 진로 개척의 기회를 지원하는 ‘2025년 경기청년 사다리프로그램’ 3기 발대식을 개최했다. 2025년 경기청년 사다리프로그램’ 3기 참가자 338명은 6월 말부터 미국, 캐나다, 호주 등 전 세계 8개국 12개 대학으로 출발한다.

발대식에는 선발자 338명을 비롯해 김성중 경기도 행정1부지사, 김현삼 경기도미래세대재단 대표이사, 장민수 도의원 등 약 360명이 참석한 가운데 △3기 선발과정과 연수 계획을 담은 영상 상영 △참여자 비전 발표 △개그콘서트 코너 ‘소통왕, 말자할매’와 함께하는 고민상담 등 다양한 프로그램이 진행됐다.

‘경기청년 사다리 프로그램’은 ‘더 고른 기회’를 위한 민선8기 대표 청년 정책으로, 국내외 연수 경험의 격차를 해소하고 진로 탐색의 폭을 넓히는 것을 목표로 한다.

올해 16.7대 1의 경쟁률을 뚫고 최종 선발된 3기 338명은 오는 6월 30일부터 △미국(미시간대 30명, 버팔로대 28명, 워싱턴대 30명, UC얼바인 20명) △캐나다(UBC 25명) △호주(시드니대 30명, 퀸즐랜드대 30명) △영국(에든버러대 30명) △프랑스(그르노블 알프스대 20명) △스페인(알칼라대 25명) △싱가포르(국립대 35명) △중국(북경대 35명) 등 8개국 12개 대학에서 연수를 시작할 예정이다.

싱가포르 국립대학교 참가자 김창민(19세)씨는 “책과 영상으로만 접하던 해외에 처음 나가게 되어 무척 떨린다”며, “정보과학․보안 분야에서 아시아 최고 수준의 연구 역량을 갖춘 싱가포르 국립대는 관련 전공자로서 꼭 한 번 경험해보고 싶었던 곳”이라고 말했다.

캐나다 UBC 참가자인 배준영(25세)씨는 “편의점이나 마트 등 상점을 이용할 때 휠체어 접근이 어려운 한국의 현실을 보며, 캐나다의 장애인 접근권 보장 사례를 배우고 이를 알리고 싶어 지원했다”고 비전을 발표했다.

김성중 행정1부지사는 “해외연수를 통해 자신만의 답을 찾고, 인생의 터닝포인트가 될 수 있도록 하고 싶은 거 다 하며 과감하게 부딪혀 보는 시간을 갖길 바란다”며 “앞으로도 모두에게 고른 기회가 돌아갈 수 있도록 더 나은 청년 정책 마련에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
