세종시가 청년 농업인의 창업 부담을 줄이고 안정적인 농촌 정착을 유도하기 위해 스마트팜 설치 비용을 대폭 지원한다.
이를 위해 세종시는 26일, 지역 내 청년 농업인을 대상으로 정보통신기술(ICT) 기반 스마트팜 구축 비용의 최대 70%를 지원하는 신규 사업을 추진한다고 밝혔다.
이번 사업은 올해 처음 도입된 것으로, 고액의 토지 가격으로 농업 창업에 어려움을 겪는 청년층을 실질적으로 돕기 위한 조치다.
지원 대상은 세종시에 주소를 두고 있거나 향후 정착 의지가 있는 만 45세 미만의 청년 농업인 및 예비 농업인이다. 대상자로 선정될 경우 최대 1억 8,000만 원 한도 내에서 스마트팜 시설의 ICT 설비 설치비용의 70%를 보조받을 수 있다.
세종시에 거주하고 있지 않은 신청자는 스마트팜 또는 원예 관련 전문 교육 이수 또는 경영 실습 경력을 증빙해야 하며, 사업 대상자로 선정된 이후 2개월 이내에 사업 부지를 확보해야 한다는 조건도 붙었다.
세종시 관계자는 “스마트농업은 노동력을 줄이면서도 생산성과 품질을 높일 수 있는 미래 농업의 핵심”이라며 “청년 농업인의 유입과 정착을 유도해 지역 농촌에 활력을 불어넣고자 한다”고 밝혔다.
이번 사업 신청은 오는 8월 22일까지 접수할 수 있다.
