[브레이크뉴스=강동호 기자] 합천군은 지방시대위원회가 주관한 ‘2026년 취약지역 생활여건 개조사업’ 공모에 가야면 대전마을과 청덕면 가현마을 등 2개 마을이 최종 선정됐다고 8일 밝혔다.
취약지역 생활여건 개조사업은 경제성장 과정에서 사회·경제적 지원이 소외돼 정주 여건이 낙후된 농촌 지역 주민의 기본적인 생활 수준을 보장하기 위한 사업으로, 안전·위생 등 생활 인프라 확충과 주거환경 개선, 주민 역량 강화 등을 통해 지역 균형 발전과 삶의 질 향상을 도모하고자 추진된다.
이 사업은 지방시대위원회가 컨트롤타워 역할을 하며 중앙과 지방 간 사업 연계를 통해 지원된다.
가야면 대전마을은 지난해에 이어 올해 재도전한 마을로, 대나무숲 화재로 인한 사망사고, 경사지 농기계 사고, 좁은 안길과 붕괴된 담장 등 자연재해와 안전사고에 지속적으로 노출돼 정비가 시급한 지역이다.

청덕면 가현마을은 여름철 태풍과 집중호우로 반복적인 침수 피해를 입어 이번 사업의 적격지로 판단돼 공모에 선정됐다.
합천군은 이번 공모 선정을 위해 1월부터 주민설명회를 시작으로 현장조사와 현장포럼 등을 거쳐 준비해왔으며, 경상남도의 컨설팅과 농림축산식품부의 대면평가를 거쳐 2개 마을이 최종 사업 대상지로 확정됐다.
2026년부터 4년간 가야 대전마을에는 대나무숲 옹벽 설치, 미끄럼 방지 포장, 마을 안길 및 주택 정비 등에 24억 원을 투자해 ‘비계산 아래 서로 배려하는 한 지붕 한마음 공동체 대전’ 마을로 조성할 계획이다.
청덕 가현마을은 상습 침수 구간 배수시설 정비, 붕괴 위험 구간 옹벽 및 사면 보강, 마을회관 리모델링, 붕괴 위험 담장 및 안길 정비, 주택 수리 등에 약 25억 원을 투입해 ‘안전한 농촌공간, 쾌적한 주거공간, 나눔을 실천하는 행복한 농촌 3(삶)-터 가현마을 만들기’를 추진할 계획이다.
한편, 합천군 미래성장활력과는 지난 2월 묘산면 웅기지구 농촌공간정비사업(126억 원)을 시작으로, 3월에는 합천역세권 개발을 위한 토지비축사업(232억 원)에 선정됐다.
이어 5월 7일에는 농림축산식품부가 발표한 농촌협약(남부 재생활성화지역)에 최종 선정돼 420억 원 규모의 국·도비를 확보하면서 향후 5년간 쌍백, 삼가, 가회면 등 침체된 남부지역에 활력을 불어넣을 것으로 기대되고 있다.
또한 6월에는 청덕면 가현지구 농촌공간정비사업(34억 원)에 이어, 120억 원 규모의 청년 일자리 연계 주거 지원 공모사업에도 선정되며 총사업비 약 1,000억 원을 확보하는 쾌거를 이뤘다.
김윤철 합천군수는 “올해 상반기 미래성장활력과에서는 군민 삶의 질 향상을 위한 각종 공모사업에서 어느 해보다 많은 결실을 맺고 있다”며 “앞으로도 우리 군의 생활여건 개선을 위한 국비 보조 공모사업에 적극 참여하겠다”고 말했다.
