10일 교육청에 따르면, 올해 여름 역대급 고온이 예고된 가운데 학생과 교직원의 건강을 보호하고 보다 쾌적한 학습환경을 만들기 위한 선제적 조치로, 총 465억 원의 냉난방비 예산을 확보해 현장에 지원하고 있다.
이번 지원은 단순한 전기료 보조를 넘어, 폭염으로 인한 학습권 침해와 교직원의 근무환경 악화를 막기 위한 ‘안전 대책’ 성격이 강하다.
전례 없이 치솟는 전기요금에 냉방기 가동조차 부담스러운 일부 학교의 현실을 반영해, 실질적인 재정 뒷받침에 나선 것이다. 도내 917개 유치원, 초·중·고, 특수학교가 대상이며, 학교당 평균 약 5천만 원 규모의 예산이 지원된다.
