(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 남동구가 14일, ‘2025년 찾아가는 통(統)통(通)데이’ 운영을 재개했다고 밝혔다.
남동구에 따르면, ‘찾아가는 통통데이’는 구청장이 매월 통장회의에 직접 참석해 통장(統長)들과 소통(疏通)하며 건의 사항을 청취하고, 현안을 해결하는 현장 소통 프로그램이다.
박종효 남동구청장은 지난 9일 만수2동, 10일 논현1동 통장회의를 방문해 통장들의 다양한 의견과 허심탄회한 건의 사항에 귀를 기울였다.
이어 주민들이 건의한 현장을 즉시 찾아 조치가 빠르게 이뤄지도록 직접 지휘했다.
박종효 남동구청장은 “주민들과 가장 가까이에서 소통하는 통장님들의 노고에 항상 감사드린다”며 “통장님들과 더욱 가까이에서 소통하고 구민이 체감하는 행정을 구현하기 위해 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
한편, 남동구는 이번 ‘찾아가는 통통데이’를 시작으로 올해 총 10개 동을 방문해 주민 의견을 폭넓게 경청하는 시간을 가질 예정이다.

또한, 남동구가 14일, 구월아시아드 선수촌근린공원에 있는 수령 500년 된 보호수인 회화나무에 대한 생육환경 개선사업을 실시했다고 밝혔다.
남동구에 따르면, 보호수 생육환경 개선은 지난 6월 약 한 달간 진행됐으며, 회화나무가 건강한 환경에서 자랄 수 있도록 상처 부위의 부후부(썩은 조직) 제거, 살균·살충·방부 처리, 인공수피 처리 등 정밀한 외과적 수술을 시행했다.
특히, 이번 생육환경 개선은 우기와 태풍 발생 전 사전 정비를 통해 강풍 피해 예방과 함께 병해충 예방 등 나무의 활력을 극대화하는 데 중점을 뒀다.
해당 회화나무는 과거 지역 주민들이 제사를 지내던 당산나무다.
수령은 현재 약 500년 정도이며, 1999년 보호수로 지정된 지역문화의 역사적 가치를 지닌 수목이다.
지난 2019년 태풍 링링의 피해로 나무의 3분의 2가 부러지는 피해를 입었으나, 이후 남동구의 지속적인 관리로 현재에 이르고 있다.
