한국형 탐정업의 새로운 전환점을 마련하기 위한 '공익정보탐정단'이 공식 출범했다.

대강의실에서 공익정보탐정단(公益情報探偵團, 약칭 公情團) 발족식을 개최했다고 밝혔다.
이번 공정단 출범은 한국형 탐정업의 활성화 촉진 방안의 일환으로, '탐정의 역할 재설정을 통한 탐정의 위상 재정립'이라는 기치 아래 '반부패 활동'을 중심축으로 하는 새로운 시도다.
공익정보탐정단은 김종식 한국민간조사학술연구소 소장을 단장으로 하여 탐정 관련 단체장, 탐정 학술 전문가, 언론인, 전 수사·정보 경력자, 전·현직 탐정학과 교수 등 총 53명의 전문가로 구성됐다.
공정단의 주요 활동 영역은 △공직자 등 사회지도층 인사들의 부정·부패나 일탈행위 △정치브로커의 준동(공천청탁, 이권 및 인사개입, 여론조작, 고위층과의 친분 과시 또는 사칭 등) △불법사금융과 불법채권추심 △지역 토착비리 등 다양한 사회적 부조리에 초점을 맞춘다.

공정단은 이러한 사회적 부조리에 대해 '남다른 관심'을 갖고 관련 여론이나 정보·단서·증거 등을 포착·획득하여 정부 관계 기관과 언론 등에 제보하는 활동을 펼칠 예정이다.
특히 국민권익위원회가 '공공의 이익 침해행위(공익신고자보호법 제2조 제1호 별표, 491개 법률 위반 행위)' 신고자에게 보상금 또는 포상금을 지급하고 있는 시책에 적극 참여하기로 했다.
반부패 활동과 함께 공정단은 서민 보호를 위한 공헌 활동도 적극 전개한다.
대표적인 예로 △수억 원대의 곗돈을 사취하고 잠적한 계주의 소재를 의협심 하나 만으로 추적해 경찰에 제보함으로써 많은 서민들이 피해를 조기에 회복할 수 있게 하는 활동 △이웃 주민의 상습적인 가정 폭력과 아동학대 정황을 포착해 관계기관에 제보함으로서 최악의 상황을 면할 수 있게 하는 활동 등을 들 수 있다.
공익정보탐정단은 반부패 활동과 사회 공헌 활동의 확산을 위해 연내에 고문 및 법률자문단을 구성하고, 공정단 단원을 현재의 53명에서 100명으로 늘리기로 했다.
이를 위해 각계로부터 인재를 추천 받을 예정이다.
이번 공익정보탐정단 출범은 그동안 민간조사업으로 불려온 한국형 탐정업이 단순한 흥신소 차원을 넘어 사회 정의 실현과 공익 증진에 기여하는 전문 직업군으로 자리매김하려는 의지를 보여주는 상징적 사건으로 평가된다.

The 'Public Interest Information Detective Corps' to create a new turning point for Korean-style detective industry has been officially launched.
Korea Private Investigation Research Institute (Director Gam Jong-sik) announced that it held the inauguration ceremony of the Public Interest Information Detective Corps (公益情報探偵團, abbreviated as 公情團) at 11:00 AM on the 12th in the main lecture room of the Korea Human Development Institute in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
This launch of the fair team is a new attempt to vitalize Korean-style detective industry, and is a new attempt centered on 'anti-corruption activities' under the banner of 'reestablishing the status of detectives by resetting the role of detectives'.
