대구 지역 특성화고를 졸업한 그는 전문학사 학위까지 마쳤지만, 원하는 대기업의 문턱을 넘지 못했다. 반복된 좌절 끝에 선택한 길은 ‘다시 배우는 것’이었다.
2024년, 류 씨는 영진전문대학교 반도체전자계열에 재입학해 실무 중심 교육을 받았고, 지난달 16일 현대자동차그룹 계열사인 현대위아에 입사했다.
영진전문대학교 반도체전자계열은 전국 전문대학 가운데에서도 손꼽히는 취업 명문이다. 최근 10년간 삼성, SK, LG 등 주요 대기업은 물론, 반도체·디스플레이·소재·미래차 산업 분야에 1,247명의 취업자를 배출하며 ‘전국구 학과’로 떠올랐다.
이 학과의 취업 성과는 대구·경북을 넘어 전국 단위다. 충북 청주 출신 박정윤씨는 2022년 SK하이닉스에 조기 입사했다. 그는 “어릴 적부터 익숙했던 기업이 제 일터가 됐다는 사실이 아직도 믿기지 않는다”며 “영진에서 배운 실무 중심 수업과 세심한 지도가 실전에서 그대로 통했다”고 말했다.
미래 산업을 이끌 인재 양성을 위한 변화도 계속되고 있다. 반도체전자계열은 2026학년도부터 △반도체시스템과 △반도체융합전자과 △친환경배터리화공소재과 △미래모빌리티과 등 4개 전공으로 세분화된 교육과정을 운영한다. 메모리 반도체는 물론 전장·후공정·솔라셀 등 첨단 분야를 폭넓게 아우르며, 전국 전문대 최대 규모인 277명의 신입생을 모집할 계획이다.
현장 적응력을 높이기 위한 실습 환경도 강점이다. △반도체장비운용 △XR공정장비 △미래자동차 실습실 등 산업현장을 구현한 실습 공간을 갖추고 있으며, 이를 기반으로 학생들은 입학과 동시에 현장형 인재로 성장한다.
또한 SK하이닉스를 포함한 국내 주요 반도체 장비 유지보수 기업과의 협약을 통해 맞춤형 교육이 이뤄지고 있다. 지금까지 누적 500명 이상의 장비 엔지니어가 관련 기업에 진출했으며, 실습과 채용이 자연스럽게 이어지는 교육-취업 선순환 모델로 평가받고 있다.
김재완 반도체전자계열 부장은 “반도체, 정보통신, 소프트웨어가 융합되는 시대에 맞춰 교육의 경계를 넓히고 있다”며 “산업체와의 긴밀한 협력 속에서 핵심 기술 인재 양성에 더욱 박차를 가하겠다”고 말했다.
