충남 서천군(군수 김기웅)이 지난 15일 한국산업단지공단 전북지역본부(본부장 문문철)와 '기회발전특구 지정'을 위한 상생협력 업무협약을 체결했다.
이번 협약은 충청남도 내 기회발전특구 유치를 목표로, 양 기관 간 실질적인 협력 기반을 마련하고 기업 지원에 있어 공동 대응 체계를 구축하기 위해 추진됐다.
협약에 따라 두 기관은 '기회발전특구 지정과 관련한 행정 및 기술 협력', '기업 활동에 영향을 미치는 규제 특례 도입 및 제도 개선 방안 모색', '장항국가산업단지 내 기업 유치 확대와 산업 생태계 조성' 등에 있어 긴밀히 협조할 방침이다.
김기웅 서천군수는 “기회발전특구는 단순한 제도적 지정이 아니라 지역에 새로운 일자리와 산업을 유치하는 지속 가능한 성장 플랫폼”이라며 “이번 협약을 계기로 한국산업단지공단 전북지역본부와의 긴밀한 연계를 통해 서천 산업 발전의 전환점을 만들어 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
기회발전특구는 수도권 중심의 산업 집중 현상을 완화하고, 지역 경제에 활력을 불어넣기 위해 정부가 도입한 제도로, 지정된 지역에는 세제·재정 지원은 물론 각종 규제 완화와 정주 여건 개선 등이 종합적으로 제공된다.
