(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천 서구의회가 지난 16일 간재울중학교 학생 22명을 대상으로 청소년 의회체험 활동을 진행했다고 밝혔다,
서구의회에 따르면, 이 프로그램은 학생들에게 지방의회의 역할과 민주적 의사결정 과정을 체험할 기회를 제공하기 위해 마련됐다.
이날 학생들은 서구의회의 주요업무와 의정활동에 대한 설명을 듣고 ‘구의원과의 대화’ 시간을 가지며 의원이 들려주는 구의원의 역할과 의정활동의 생생한 경험담을 듣고 궁금한 점을 질문하는 시간을 가졌다.
이날 행사에는 김춘수 의원이 참석해 학생들과 소통하며 적극적인 참여를 유도했다.
특히, 이번 체험활동에서는 학생들이 직접 의원의 역할을 맡아 실제 의회의 본회의와 동일한 절차에 따라 모의회의를 진행하며 5분 자유발언, 조례안 상정, 찬반토론 등 다양한 과정을 경험했다.
의제 토론과 투표 과정을 통해 민주주의의 생생한 현장을 경험한 학생들은 “실제 의회처럼 논의하고 결정하는 과정이 인상 깊었다”고 소감을 밝혔다.
김춘수 의원은 “학생들에게 이번 모의의회 체험이 의회의 역할과 기능에 대해 이해하는 소중한 기회가 되었길 바란다”며 “이번 체험을 계기로 지역사회 문제에 꾸준히 관심을 갖고, 미래의 주역으로서 적극적으로 의견을 내는 책임감 있는 민주 시민으로 성장해달라.”고 격려하며 당부했다.
한편, 서구의회 의회체험활동 프로그램은 어린이․청소년들에게 지방의회의 기능과 역할에 대한 이해를 높이고자 마련된 체험활동으로, 관내 19세 미만 주민을 대상으로 진행되며 사전 전화상담 후 서구의회 홈페이지를 통해 온라인 신청이 가능하다.
