(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천시가 21일, 올해 12월까지 62개소의 어린이보호구역 내 보행 안전 강화를 위해 총 26억 원을 투입, 경보등 3개소와 바닥형 보행신호등 59개소를 추가 설치하고, 적색잔여시간표시기 83개소 교체를 추진한다고 밝혔다.
인천시에 따르면, 이번 사업은 시의 ‘시민 체감형 지속 가능한 교통정책’의 일환으로 단순한 신호등 추가를 넘어 현장 맞춤형 위험 분석과 선제적 대응에 기반한 실효성 높은 교통안전 환경 조성에 중점을 두고 있다.
설치 대상은 만수북초, 계양초, 부곡초, 청학초 등 보행량이 많고 사고 위험도가 높은 어린이보호구역으로 선정됐으며, 이들 지역을 중심으로 시야 확보가 어려운 지점을 우선해 시인성이 뛰어난 신호기 설치를 집중 추진한다.
