(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천시가 25일, 올해 10월 개최하는 제29차 세계한인경제인대회의 성공적인 개최를 위해 본격적인 준비에 착수했다고 밝혔다.
인천시에 따르면, 지난 25일, 세계한인경제무역협회(월드옥타) 박종범 회장이 대회 추진 전략 논의를 위해 인천을 방문했다고 전했다.
인천시는 지난해 10월 오스트리아 비엔나에서 열린 제28차 세계한인경제인대회에서 차기 개최 도시로 선정됐으며, 개최 도시의 시장은 공동대회장 자격으로 대회 전반에 적극 참여하게 된다.
‘세계한인경제인대회’는 세계 71개국 150개 지회를 둔 세계한인경제무역협회(이하 월드옥타) 소속 한인 경제인과 해외 바이어들이 한자리에 모여 대한민국 중소기업의 해외진출을 지원하는 대표적인 글로벌 비즈니스 플랫폼이다.
10월 27일부터 30일까지 진행되는 이번 대회는 재외동포청 인천 개청 이후, 전 세계 재외동포 경제인 및 해외 바이어 2,000여 명이 모이는 최대 규모의 경제인 행사로서 전국 500여 수출중소기업이 참여하는 ‘Korea Business Expo Incheon’이 송도컨벤시아 전시장에서 함께 개최될 예정이다.
인천시는 이번 대회를 통해 글로벌 비즈니스 도시로의 도약을 목표로 투자유치설명회 및 비즈니스미팅, 재외동포 기업 연계 글로벌 취업 설명회, 산업시찰 및 관광프로그램, 시립무용단 한국무용공연 등의 프로그램을 준비 중이다.
특히, 관내 수출중소기업의 실질적인 성과 창출을 목표로 지난 6월 27일부터 7월 11일까지 ‘Korea Business Expo Incheon’전시 및 수출상담회 참가기업 모집 결과 총86개 기업이 지원했으며, 이 중 전시에 적합한 기업을 선발해 사전 바이어 매칭 상담 및 전시부스 설치 등을 지원할 계획이다.
이 전시회에 개별적으로 참여하고 싶은 기업은 월드옥타 본부사무국에 추가로 신청할 수 있다.
유정복 인천시장은 “인천은 우리나라 최초의 이민이 시작된 재외동포 경제인들의 출발점이자, 오늘날 공항과 항만을 통해 세계와 대한민국을 잇는 글로벌 교류의 허브도시”라며 “이번 대회가 글로벌 한민족 경제 네트워크의 새로운 미래를 열어가는 전환점이 되도록 준비하겠다”고 말했다.
